Welcome to the Wollaton and Lenton Abbey Neighbourhood Watch Website
The Wollaton and Lenton Abbey Neighbourhood Watch Association is a democratically-organised collection of Neighbourhood Watch Schemes in the Wollaton and Lenton Abbey districts of the City of Nottingham and has been operational since October 2005. the Association`s CONSTITUTION and AIMS & OBJECTIVES can be viewed on this site. The Association is particularly pleased to acknowledge support from the City Council`s Area 7 Committee in establishing this website resource for the local community.
A Neighbourhood Watch Scheme provides excellent opportunities for reducing crime and the fear of crime and is also a valuable tool in generating community cohesion and spirit. Getting to know a few neighbours, sharing information and experiences and generally keeping a look out for each another need be neither onerous nor time-consuming, but does help to develop trust and re-assurance. By bringing together Neighbourhood Watch Schemes into a Neighbourhood Watch Association, a wider community experience and support is forthcoming and the members of a Neighbourhood Watch Association have greater opportunities to influence locally and nationally those institutions responsible for law and order in their community.
This site will keep you informed of progress made by the Wollaton & Lenton Abbey Neighbourhood Watch Association and also, amongst other things, provide you with:
1. Information on Neighbourhood Watch services, activities and events in Wollaton and Lenton Abbey.
2. Alerts to crimes and anti-social behaviour in Wollaton and Lenton Abbey.
3. The opportunity to report incidents for processing by the Police and to obtain feedback from the Police
4. Crime statistics for Wollaton and Lenton Abbey.
5. Links to other Neighbourhood Watch Associations in Nottinghamshire and to national institutions associated with control of crime and anti-social behaviour.
6. News from other community organisations in Wollaton and Lenton Abbey.
You do not have to be a member of a Neighbourhood Watch Scheme to access most areas of this site, but, if you do not belong to a Scheme, it will, hopefully, encourage you either to join, or even to form a Neighbourhood Watch Scheme in your locality.
If you need some preliminary guidance on setting up a Neighbourhood Watch Scheme then please go to FORMING A NW SCHEME on the left of Association’s homepage. This registration will also enable you to post incidents of crime or anti-social behaviour in Wollaton and Lenton Abbey on this site. Some areas on this site are restricted to representatives (usually Chief Co-ordinators) of Neighbourhood Watch Schemes that are members of the Wollaton & Lenton Abbey Neighbourhood Watch Association. If you are a Co-ordinator of a Scheme that has not yet joined the Association but now wishes to become a member, please let us know.
Although this site is designed for the Wollaton & Lenton Abbey Neighbourhood Watch Association, the Association is concious of its commitment to the community at large and would be happy to include pages for other community organisations (Residents Associations, Tenants Associations etc) in the Wollaton and Lenton Abbey Area. Interested parties should contact the Site Administrator (Tel: 0115 8547535; e-mail: peter.usherwood@nottingham.ac.uk). Whenever you enter information on this website about yourself or an incident you have witnessed, the information is fully encrypted and is held on a fully secure licensed server. You will notice that the website directs you to a https (secure) address and the padlock icon appears at the bottom left hand-side of your web-browser. Once collected, your information will not be disclosed to ANY third parties and will remain strictly confidential.
The Wollaton & Lenton Abbey Neighbourhood Watch Association is seeking sponsors. For £50 a sponsor may have an image/logo posted on its Homepage (subject to availability of space). Other sponsors will be identified in ASSOCIATION SPONSORS. Potential sponsors should contact the Site Adminstrator
